Layers of sandstone created by millions of years of sediment in a shallow sea approximately 140 million years ago, created the outlier area of what is now Kakadu National Park is Northern territory, Australia. Years of wind and water erosion have stripped bare the layers in this magnificent rock formation light by the last rays of the afternoon sun.

The Kakadu National park stretches over 19804 square kilometres and is 200 kilometres from north to south and 100 kilometres from east to west. There is archaelogical evidence the Australian Aboriginal people have occupied the area for 20000 years.
