There are numerous free camping spots on the foreshore of Blowering Dam. The most popular would be The Pines on the eastern bank. Surrounded by mountains and with large expanses of beautiful blue water, it is a popular spot for water skiing, fishing and swimming. During public holidays and the Christmas and Easter holiday periods, it is extremely busy. But mid-week and during the off season, it is quiet.
Autumn is a beautiful time at Blowering Dam, the weather is still quite warm. The water is pristine and late afternoon, watching the sun set over the distant hills is relaxing and a breathtaking site.
An amenities block with gents and ladies toilets is located at the entrance off the Snowy Mountain Highway, however, there is no drinking water available and therefor campers must be self sufficient. There is a boat launching ramp, camp fire locations and pets are not allowed.
During dry periods, as the water of the dam is used for irrigation and due to evaporation the water level drops considerably there can be quite a distance between the amenities block and the waters edge.
